Tonoccus McClain

Tonoccus is a versatile entertainer who has been fortunate enough to sing on over 50 TV show and film soundtracks, including iconic productions like King Kong, Avatar, and The Lightyear. Notable highlights include solo performances in the 2019 reimagining of 'The Lion King' (The Lion Sleeps Tonight) and 'First Daughter (The Way You Look Tonight), as well as ensemble work for Beauty And The Beast at the Hollywood Bowl alongside stars such as Zooey Deschanel, Rebel Wilson, and Taye Diggs.

For 16 years, he’s been member of the comedy Doo-wop quartet 'The Alley Cats,' touring the US and beyond. He has also served as Assistant Director with the Gospel/Pop group 'Raise!' and performed in diverse venues from Disneyland to the LA Forum. Internationally, he’s toured with groups like Albert McNeil's Jubilee Singers, the a cappella vocal jazz group MPACT and performed in locations as far as Australia, Finland, Spain, Taiwan, and beyond.

In the classical world, he has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and several productions with Los Angeles Opera. For six years, he also performed in more than 4200 performances of The Lion King (North American tour).

His endeavors extend to hosting music video shows (California Summer Countdown), engaging with celebrities like Britney Spears and The Rock, and commercial voiceover work (McDonald's). Additionally, he has lent his voice to several radio dramas including the futuristic audio thriller “The Metal Detective.”
Reporting as an anchor for Channel One News, he interviewed notable figures like Vice President Gore and President George W. Bush.

As a prolific and versatile entertainer based in Los Angeles, I have had the privilege of lending my vocals to over 50 TV show and film soundtracks, including King Kong, Avatar, The Lion King, and Lightyear. Some highlights of my career include being a featured soloist in the 2019 reimagined version of 'The Lion King’ (The Lion Sleeps Tonight), performing the opening and closing credits themes for the Disney Channel cartoon 'The Lion Guard,' and being a featured soloist in the Katie Holmes/Michael Keaton film 'First Daughter.'

In addition to these accomplishments, I have been fortunate enough to participate in numerous noteworthy projects. A few examples: As a member of the ensemble cast for 'Beauty and the Beast LIVE' at the historic Hollywood Bowl, I shared the stage with talents like Zooey Deschanel, Kelsey Grammar, Taye Diggs, and Rebel Wilson. I also had the opportunity to sing in 'Game of Thrones LIVE' at the iconic LA Forum under the baton of composer Ramin Djawadi. I've also had the distinction of performing in five shows at the Disneyland Resort, including as the Head Guard in 'Aladdin' and adding my baritone on its world famous Main Street as a Dapper Dan of Disneyland.

For the past 16 years, I have been a proud member of the comedy Doo-wop a cappella quartet 'The Alley Cats,' bringing this genre to audiences across the United States and abroad. I served as a member and eventually the assistant director for the pop/gospel group 'Raise!' and traveled extensively throughout America, sharing our unique blend of soul-inspiring a cappella jams. Working with New Musicals Inc. over the past five years, I have had the privilege of bringing multiple new works to life.

Last year, I embarked on a country-wide journey as one of the 'Popera Men,' a crew of performers that effortlessly transition between pop standards and classical arias. I have also been a featured soloist and orator, performing a piece I wrote with the Santa Monica Symphony for the past two years. Notably, I was a featured performer in LA Opera's productions of 'Porgy & Bess' and their Pulitzer Prize-winning premiere of 'Omar’ this November. For nine years, I served as a member and featured soloist of the LA Master Chorale, expanding my repertoire as a member of the LA Master Chorale Chamber Singers making Walt Disney Concert Hall my home venue for almost a decade. Additionally, I had the incredible honor of performing in three Academy Awards ceremonies.

Internationally, I was privileged to tour with the a cappella sensation MPACT throughout South Korea, sharing the stage with vocal jazz legends The Real Group and Rajaton. In Spain, I toured and sang with the World Youth Choir 2000 and had the pleasure of performing with the gospel ensemble Albert McNeil's Jubilee Singers. I also took on the roles of Sebastian, the French Chef, and a Daughter of Triton in Taiwan's 'The Little Mermaid LIVE' and the role of Action in a revolutionary reimagining of 'West Side Story' in Helsinki, Finland. Most recently, I premiered the role of Ayodele in the play with music 'Four' at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2023, following its successful debut at the Hollywood Fringe in June.

Beyond my musical endeavors, I was excited to make my voiceover debut in the futuristic audio drama “The Metal Detective” as Stephen Crow released this Spring as a serial podcast. Mist recently, I’ve performed In the radio dramas ‘A Falling Star at Buzzards Roost’ and ‘#ShineItOn’ presented by the Outdoor PlvI have also worked as an Anchor/Reporter for Channel One News, the news network that launched the careers of Lisa Ling and Anderson Cooper. During my time there, I covered the Oscars’ red carpet, slept on an aircraft carrier, traveled through the demilitarized zone into North Korea, and had the privilege of interviewing leaders such as Vice President Gore and President George W. Bush. As a television show host, I traveled throughout California, interviewed celebrities like Britney Spears, the Olsen Twins, The Rock, Brandy, and Fergie.
