Julia Kratz

Julia Kratz's career reflects a journey of change and exploration. With a childhood and youth in French-speaking ex-colonies in Africa, Kratz started her acting career at the age of 9 at the Centre Culturel Français du Niger, where she gained attention with her role as the 'Little Prince.' As her career progressed, she embraced a range of performance styles, including physical theater, commedia dell' arte, cabaret, dance, and drag. Her alter ego, Julio, finds a delighted fan base on Berlin stages and on social media.

Kratz's varied experiences have shaped her diverse career, which has seen her take on roles in Roman Polanski's 'Ghostwriter' and play one of Germany's most malevolent female characters in the country's oldest soap opera, "Good Times, Bad Times." Her versatility is reflected in her ability to embody a range of characters, from environmental activist to old Germanic witch.

Now based in Berlin, Kratz works on her own film and theater projects. She also stays connected to her craft through ongoing acting training with esteemed mentors like Giles Foremann, Philippe Gaullier, Ariane Mnouchkine, and Martha Graham. As a coach, she helps fellow actors prepare for auditions, develop their skills, and build confidence in their craft. She's a member of the Actor's Home, where she connects with fellow actors and industry professionals. Outside of acting, Kratz enjoys ice-swimming, horseback riding, boxing, and barefoot hiking. As a matriarch within her family and a supporter of the addiction community, she demonstrates her commitment to both personal and community growth.
