Amy Partain

Hi!! I have received training in Vocal Production, as well as Voice and Speech and I specialize in reducing tension throughout your body to achieve sharper articulation and delivery of your lines. I am fairly new to coaching and reading, but I have received about 12 years of training in areas such as acting technique (Meisner, Uta Hagen, Stella Adler, Stanislovsky, Linklatter Voice, method, repetition, practical aesthetics, Chekhovian script analysis, etc.), vocal warm-ups, body warm-ups, dialects, "The Voice Recipe," singing technique, and so much more.

If you need help with nerves and improving confidence in front of the camera, I'm the reader for you! I can help with structural posture imbalances, what camera angles work best for you, lighting and sound hacks for self-tapes, eye lines aka "The Halo of the Lens," pinpoint where you hold tension, help with gimmicks and gestures, as well as improvisation, especially in commercials.

**If you are interested in dissecting your sides and going over exactly what your character wants, where the beats are throughout the text, defining your entrances, and other aspects of script analysis, especially in terms of practical aesthetics, I only charge an extra $5 TOTAL for the duration of your time booked on top of your initial fee. I have been analyzing scripts since I was 8 years old, and script analysis is most definitely my strong suit.

I consider myself a very spontaneous and laid-back person, and I love working and interacting with people!! If you choose to read with me, I promise we will have so much fun and I truly care about making sure your auditions are top tier. If you literally just need a self-tape reader, advice, coaching, or anything else, I can be of service!!!

A little bio about me:
I am currently based in Los Angeles, with a second base in Atlanta, and have spent the last 5 years pursuing a career in film and TV, and the last 12 years training with major conservatories such as Fabrefaction Theater Conservatory in Atlanta, Georgia and The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in West Hollywood, as well as many other studios. I have worked on projects such as The Haunting of Hill House, Star, Miracle Workers, and After, as well as many other independent productions. When I was just 10 years old, I was recognized for my performance as Alice in "Alice in Wonderland" at my local theater by my local newspaper and received a "Best Actress" award. I have also been recognized numerous times for my performances in intensives and other equity shows at Fabrefaction Theater Co. in Atlanta. I have been receiving vocal training since I was 13 years old, and I am a mezzo-soprano/soprano mix. I am also a skilled dancer and fighter with training in hip-hop, contemporary, MMA, and yoga.

Amy is hard-of-hearing (due to partial deafness in both ears) and is in the process of learning ASL, but it is not noticeable and this deficit does not hinder Amy's work ethic and/or ability. Athletically, Amy ran track for 10 years (from the age of 8 to the age of 18) with plans to compete professionally in sprints, relays, and the long jump before she made the decision to pursue the arts full-time. During this time, Amy won many awards and broke a couple records at her high school for track.
