Ty Granderson Jones

Ty Granderson Jones, proud of his Creole and Cuban heritage, is a protégé of the late iconic theatre director, Alan Schneider, and a former student of the late Lee Strasberg. He has a BA in Theatre from FSU and FAMU as a co-op student, and an MFA in Acting from UCSD, one of the top acting programs in the world. His acting film credits include the Touchstone classic action film “Con Air”, co-starring in the #1 box office rap cult classic “CB4” from Universal Pictures, Oliver Stone's Oscar nominated “Salvador”, recurring as Cue Ball Rodriguez on the critically acclaimed classic series “ER” on NBC, the Golden Globe nominated “Everybody Hates Chris”, and starring as the villainous Max Rice in the urban cult classic indie Tapped Out from Madonna’s Maverick Entertainment (which the late Prince Rogers Nelson was a silent producer), and “Window of Opportunity”- the underground political thriller from Producer, The Doors’ John Densmore . Ty’s theatre credits includes the hit, award winning play “Rounds”, Niggaz with Attitudes and Big Gunz” (earning him a 2000 ADA Award nomination for Best Actor in a Drama), the Los Angeles premiere of Buffalo Soldier (earning him a NAACP Theatre Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor), from Broadway-- the LA premiere of August Wilson's “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone”, the West coast premiere of Landford Wilson’s “Balm in Gilead”, the 20th Anniversary of the Negro Ensemble Company classic, “Ceremonies in Dark Old Men”, and “The School for Scandal” at the Tony Award winning South Coast Repertory. Ty has starred in over 100 plays. He is an acclaimed acting coach and has taught Acting for the Camera, and Technique at New York Film Academy and he has conducted workshops around the country. He is also a noted Poet and has performed his original works featuring John Densmore of “The Doors” on drums. As an accomplished screenwriter via his company Creole Celina Entertainment (www.CreoleCelinaEnt.com), Ty co-wrote, co-produced and starred in the award winning film “Napoleonic” which had its debut at Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival. “Napoleonic” was also an official selection at the Action on Film International Film Festival 2013 garnishing nominations for Best Film, and for Ty-- Best Actor. His first directorial film assignment, “Tale of Two Dragons”, which he co-wrote and produced was also an official selection. He is also currently developing his edgy, off-beat full-length action thriller “The Cool and Creepy” (a finalist in the Sundance Feature Film Program), as well as the feature development of his latest short project “Diamond” which he wrote, produced, directed and co-starred. Ty is an accomplished Muay Thai Fighter, and Cowboy and is a testament to his journey of redemption, overcoming the mean streets of Tampa Bay, Florida and incarceration and moving on to believe and achieve, make his dream real in Show Business as an accomplished professional and teacher. Ty’s journey is celebrated in the award winning Hollywood Photo Journal “Mugshots” along with other noted talents, i.e. Danny Trejo, Emilio Rivera, etc.
