Courtney Deelen
Hiya!
I'm Courtney Deelen, an award winning, multifaceted filmmaker based out of Toronto, ON whose passion is telling entertaining stories with heart. An “actor’s director” with a keen understanding of the actor’s process, and psyche, and whose speciality is nurturing and inspiring actors to get out of their own way, so they can bring their best performance to table.
I developed the course curriculum for the sole film and television course of St. Clair College’s Music Theatre Performance Program. For the past 7 years I have had the honour of working closely with students to hone their acting technique for on- camera performance, while also delivering an in-depth understanding of the film industry, and assisting with their understanding of marketing their brand as performers.
Pre-pandemic I had the pleasure of working with some of the top Canadian Casting Directors as a audition reader, therefore I have an understanding of the process behind the scenes as well as what they were looking for in the room.
I love coaching and working with actors to create self tapes that stand out and bring your personal essence to the forefront. Self tapes can often feel like sending work out into the void, so my goal is to focus on booking the room with every tape... you never know when the right one will hit.
