Chicava Roslyn Tate

Hello there! I'm Chicava, a SAG-AFTRA actor with a passion for storytelling and a quest for theatrical and commercial representation to amplify my presence in the entertainment industry.
My goal as a reader is to help colleagues bring out truthful moments and dive into the character tell compelling stories in their auditions. I'm here to serve as support by giving you the best read I can. I'm open to offering notes & re-directs (or not), and/or a bit of script analysis in conversation to help you locate yourself and character self in the moment.

During the summer and fall, I delved into the world of student and indie films, refining my skills amidst the industry strike. One of my notable roles was as Phumi, the lead in Efe Abda's MFA thesis, "Chock Full Till Empty." I portrayed a down-on-her-luck punk rocker who unexpectedly becomes the nanny to her nieces, bringing depth and authenticity to the character.

In the sci-fi realm, I embodied Anuba Lavelle in "Vimana," a mind-controlling, possibly alien character navigating Earth as a guru. This role allowed me to showcase my versatility and embrace the complexities of unique characters.

Adding a touch of horror to my repertoire, I portrayed Silly in "Lobster Dinner," a peculiar gang leader of mute thugs dressed in white. This experience highlighted my ability to explore diverse genres while maintaining a compelling on-screen presence.

My journey in acting has been shaped by extensive and enriching training. In Los Angeles, I honed my craft at The Will Greer Theatricum Botanicum under the guidance of Ellen Greer and Armin Shimerman. Formative years at Sande Shurin Studio, studying with Trip Hanson, Ginger Price, and Sande herself, added valuable layers to my artistic development. Mary Boyer at T. Schreiber was also a significant force in shaping my skills.

Beyond acting, movement practices have always played a significant role in my life. Currently, I engage in Tai Chi, QiGong, and Kung Fu, coupled with a passion for Afro-Brazilian Samba and Belly Dance, adding a unique dimension to my artistic expression.

I'm excited to reenter the professional landscape after significant personal growth, now bringing a grounded and centered approach to my artistry. Join me on this journey by exploring my reels, resumes, and images on chicava.com, Actors Access, and Casting Networks.
