Rishan Dhamija
Hello lovelies!
I'm an actor/writer based out of LA.
I got my MFA in acting from UNC Chapel Hill '19 and my MFA in screenwriting from NYU-Tisch '21 (Yes. I love school)
I've worked extensively in all mediums- TV/Stage/Commercial: appearing next to Jared Leto in Apple TV's WeCrashed, Sarah Bareilles' "Little Voice" on Apple TV, Blue Bloods on CBS to name a few.
On stage- I most recently did Sylvia Khoury's "Selling Kabul" (Pulitzer finalist 22), Tartuffe directed by Saheem Ali (Broadway- fat ham), Life of Galileo directed by Vivienne Benesche (Broadway-Birthday Candles) and The May Queen written by Molly Smith Metzler (Creator Netflix's The Maid).
Some of the independent films I have worked on have screened at Sedona Film Festival, Martha's Vineyard, Brooklyn Film Festival, LA shorts to name a few.
I'm here to help you as a scene partner for all kinds of self tapes- be it Co-Star, Guest Star, Stage / Commercial. Happy to be a neutral reader or to share notes/ideas depending on what you require.
As someone who has worked both on stage an on camera- I can help share my knowledge on how to adapt your instrument for when you need to project to a live audience vs when you need to focus more on the internal life of the character for TV/film.
Given my training as a writer I also love engaging in script analysis: breaking down a scene into its different beats, understanding subtext/character motivations and most importantly how to show a character arc in a limited time.
I view self tapes as an opportunity to work, be present and let our spontaneous creativity come alive- without the pressure of grasping for an end result / pleasing someone. I've found that to be the zone where the best work comes out.
Happy to help any way I can.
Best
Rishan
